His eyes were closed.
Blind, he was to the things happening around.
Vision nullified, his ears served their purpose
Completely for once in his sorrowful life.
Each scream amplified,
Each vicious comment passed to inflict pain,
Each cry of agony echoing in his ears;
Not for a second longer could he stand it.
Time seemed to magically double itself,
The clock taking excruciatingly long
Passages of time to tick away.
He dreamed of escape,
Pictured his haven,
It’s vibrant colours and radiant shapes
Dancing in his tortured mind.
It held things that this misery
Filled world was deficient of.
The shadow of serenity dawned on him but,
Quickly vaporized with the lapse of every second
With which the cries only worsened.
He could take it no more.
He simply couldn’t.
He did what he had dreamed of doing all along.
He escaped.
His eyes now handicapped, his ears guided him.
They chiseled his sound path to freedom;
Listening to the movement of the cool wind,
The carefree leaves rustling past
And the echos of lies that people vulgarized.
He built a tower from sheer isolation;
With the last bit of bliss
That was sealed deep within his being.
He stepped in to the tower
Which occluded every morbid entity;
Crouched in one corner,
Resting his head between his bent knees,
Hoping to forever mask the world around him.
He basked in this thick air
Which smelled of hope.
He withdrew
And his perception of time was lost
In thoughts of forced comprehension.
He yearned to comprehend the meaning of existence-
Only to question everything
He felt, lived and believed.
